Sunday 10th September 2006

Today, the song that I have had in my head has been "Stepping out" by Joe Jackson - even though my daughter has been doing her best to change it to hers - "Total eclipse of the heart" by Bonnie Tyler.

Feeling a bit sad today. A lovely gentleman I've known for a long time is very ill in hospital after having a second brain haemorrage. Get well soon Lesley.

Wednesday September 6th 2006

Today, the song that I have had in my head has been "Hurts so good" by Millie Jackson.

Today, my Mum came 'round for lunch and to help with the new curtains I've got. I didn't realise she was going to bring 'round my Dad's log book from when he was in the RAF in World War 2. I didn't have time to read it all the way through but have had it confirmed it is true that people who have been involved in war don't speak about it much.
Apart from the fact it is fascinating, I can't deal with the fact my calm, logical, musical, intelligent, quiet father is the same person who's flown Dakota's and Wellingtons. Has been on low level bombing raids, has brought prisoners of war home - I did kind of know the prisoners bit but he always made light of it. Has been literally involved in a war! He's been to Singapore, Jerusalem, and other countries that have probably now changed their names.I wish I had more than a log book and nice large paperback of those who learned how to fly in Pensacola.

Another fact...she has the cigarette case that saved her Dad's life along with the bullet it stopped.

Saturday 2nd September 2006

Today, the song that have had in my head has been "Mighty Real" the Jimmy Somerville version.

I'm not particularly clumsy or accident prone but when I do stupid things or embarassing things happen, I do them in style. Like rocking the supermarket trolley backwards and forwards the first time I went shopping without my newborn son. Like walking off with someone elses trolley, not noticed the piles of dog food in it.
Like walking down Islington Row in the rush hour to the train station when my hold-ups give up.
The most recent episode was a couple of months ago. My hair is a bit uncontrollable and I use a product called Bed Head in an attempt to style it for a few hours at least. Bed Head smells lovely and you put a small amount in your palms, rub palms together and then "distribute and style". I was in my usual rush one morning, washed and "styled" my hair, not realising that my styling product was not distributed as well as usual. After 2 hours at work, I go to powder my nose, I can see a lump of styling stuff on the left hand side..an obvious lump!.....it is kind of greyish white and slightly transparent. Took me a while to get rid of the dried product.
